Abstract
A multi-channel temperature measurement system for an electric vehicle with a remote control dashboard capability is presented in the paper. The presented system is intended to be used for monitoring of batteries’ temperatures in hybrid or electric vehicles. Generally it is necessary in case of charging or discharging a battery stack consisting of several batteries which should be monitored independently to avoid any malfunctions or catastrophic results caused by overvoltage, under-voltage or excessive heating. The presented system incorporates multi-channel temperature measurements with digital temperature sensors, a FPGA device which collects data from sensors and translates it to CAN bus frames. CAN bus is incorporated for communication with a Battery Management System. To allow the remote monitoring, the system is equipped with a single board micro-computer running Node RED software. The structure of the system as well as particular devices are described in the paper.
