Abstract
We demonstrate a synthesis strategy to design a compact long-focus catadioptric objective with a field compensator. The compensator is used to increase the field of view (FoV) by correcting tangential coma and astigmatism. The feature of the optical scheme is that the primary and the tertiary mirrors are coincide, i.e. rays are reflected twice from the same mirror. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the synthesis strategy we have designed an F/8 catadioptric objective with 2000 mm focal length and 15 arc minutes FoV.
