Abstract
We report on the generation of frequency tunable far-infrared laser pulses by optical pumping a D20 Raman laser using a continuous tunable high-pressure CO2-laser as pump source. The emitted far-infrared pulses had durations of less than 100 ps, maximum pulse powers exceeding 200 kW and intensities of more than 1.5 -3-14. cm
