Abstract
Saturation mechanism of conformational nonlinearity in LC, associated with photostimulated phase transition to the isotropic state, is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The saturation mechanism consists in nonmesomorphous isomers photoexcitation which completely suppress the LC mesophase. Theoretical calculations of the grating profile development, as well as of the time dependence of the grating diffraction efficiency, are proposed. The calculations are in good agreement with experiment. The motion law of the phase verge in the light field is obtained.
