Abstract
We are building a 3D eye model from multimodal data and this paper describes our progress in using images from the Visible Human project and Scheimpflug images. The former is being targeted at muscles and the eyeball and the latter is being used to model the cornea. In this regard, the orbital anatomy of the Visible Human is being segmented and the relevant segmented data are then used to create geometric models. The lessons and methods we have learnt here will then be applied to MRI data when these become available. For Scheimpflug data, we are mutually registering individual images to reconstruct the cornea first, after which volumetric models can then be obtained. Our registration method is based on the fact that each image has a common point which can be used as a landmark. Future work includes registration of cornea and eyeball models, the incorporation of CT and biometric norms, as well as the identification of anatomical landmarks for deformation and registration.
