Abstract
Fixing of holograms recorded in a Fe-doped LiNbO3 crystal of 5 mm in thickness was achieved by heating with a CO2 laser. A series of 4 laser pulses at a power level of 7 watts and a total fixing time of 80 seconds was used. In this first demonstration of in situ postrecording fixing by laser heating a fixing efficiency of 30% was obtained.
