Review of Electromagnetic Theory
Abstract
We begin with a brief review of electromagnetic theory, and then derive analytic solutions to a few interesting problems. Although few analytic solutions exist, those that do are of great interest because they allow us to check numerical algorithms and often yield interesting physical insights that numerical solutions alone cannot. A sound theoretical understanding of analytic techniques is essential to comprehend numerical computations and to understand their limitations.
