Profile Summary

Dr. Arvin Ebrahimkhanlou is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at New Mexico Tech. He has received his Ph.D. and postdoc from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Arvin’s research in the area of Acoustic-based and Vision-based Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) of civil infrastructures, as well as mechanical and aerospace structures. Dr. Arvin is highly specialized in the areas of wave propagation, machine learning, data analysis, signal processing, uncertainty quantification, and computer vision. His fundamental contribution to this field includes mathematical formulation for analytical modeling and data analysis of acoustic wave propagation in structures that facilitates the diagnosis and characterization of structural defects. In addition, Dr. Arvin has developed reliable monitoring systems for airplanes, prestressed bridges, containment structures, concrete buildings, and pipelines.
