Profile Summary

Camilo Mejia Prada is the Manager of the High Contrast Imaging Testbed Facility at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He received his B.S. in physics from the National University of Colombia and his M.Sc. in physics from the University of Los Andes. He was awarded the Provost’s Ph.D. Fellowship from the University of Southern California to continue with his doctoral studies, where he earned his Ph.D. in Physics with a dissertation on optical forces near nano-photonics devices. For his internship, he went to Caltech as a Spitzer Science Center’s visitor student where he performed differential image processing using Hubble Space Telescope data. Finally, his Post-Doctoral research was at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in photonic crystal technology.
Since 2014, Camilo has been a vital contributor to NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, concentrating on technology development for the Roman Space Telescope, Deformable Mirrors and Wavefront Control. For his dedication and outstanding contributions he has been honored with two NASA HONORS AWARDS and several JPL Team awards.
