Dr. Sona Hosseini is a research and instrument scientist in JPL-Caltech. Her study on Solar System formation drives the development of next-generation compact sensors, based on our Spatial Heterodyne Spectrometers, allowing us to capture high spectral resolution data in UV and visible wavelengths from space missions. Her current projects include studying solar and planetary volatiles, focusing on water in the lunar exosphere and high-energy particles in the solar corona. The architecture of SHS combines the high étendue of a Fourier Transform Spectrometer with higher optomechanical tolerance and simpler optomechanical design. Sona is excited to use SHS in future missions and Small-Sats.
