Abstract
Pedal motorcycles are a frequently used mode of transportation on China's roads, and there are increasing traffic safety issues associated with them. China New Car Assessment Protocol (C-NCAP) version 2021 introduces active safety test scenarios for pedal motorcycles. The soft targets used in current active safety test scenarios are mainly referenced to European standards. According to the survey, the characteristics of pedal motorcycles in China are significantly different from those of other countries, so a research on soft targets of scooters based on the characteristics of traffic accidents in China was carried out. This paper details the development process of the target. A detailed study was conducted in terms of traffic accident analysis, scooter size market survey, and test scenario setting.
