Abstract
The drainage consolidation method has merits of low expense and short construction period in the treatment of deep soft soil foundation. In this study, the structural properties of soft clays in the coalfield of a power plant were simulated in a zoning fashion during numerical calculation. Moreover, the axisymmetric problem of the vertical drain foundation was converted into a plain strain problem for finite element analysis. The actual measurement results are basically accorded with calculation results, indicating that the drainage consolidation method is reasonable and effective in treating coalfield deep soft soil foundations.
