Abstract
Non-motor vehicle detection is an important part of the road information collection task in autonomous driving systems. To address the problems of small target omission and dense target misdetection of existing non-motor vehicle detection models in complex traffic scenarios, A non-motor vehicle detection algorithm based on improved YOLOv5s is proposed in the paper. It mainly includes adding an efficient channel attention mechanism to the feature extraction network of YOLOv5s, using a weighted bidirectional feature pyramid network for feature fusion, and improving the loss function and non-maximum suppression algorithm. The experimental results show that the precision, recall and mean average precision of the improved algorithm for non-motor vehicle target detection in complex traffic scenes reach 0.935, 0.883 and 0.949, respectively. Compared with the YOLOv5s algorithm, the precision is increased by 3.4 percentage points, the recall is increased by 2.6 percentage points, and the mean average precision is increased by 3.8 percentage points. Compared with other mainstream target detection algorithms, the improved algorithm in this paper has fewer parameters, less computation and higher detection accuracy. The weight of the improved algorithm is only 13.8MB, and the number of frames per second can reach 90. While maintaining lightweight, the improved algorithm shows good performance in terms of speed and accuracy.
