On the experimental platform of 250 kg/h plasma melting furnace, the melting vitrification test of hazardous waste incineration residues was carried out. The micro morphology of residues before and after melting, solidification characteristics and leaching characteristics of heavy metals in vitrified slag were systematically studied. The results showed that the vitrified slag obtained by plasma melting has strong texture, typical vitreous structure, and the main component is Si-Fe-Al-Ca compound. The vitreous content was 98.2%, the acid dissolution rate was 0.3%, and the thermal reduction rate was 0.6%. The acid leaching and water leaching of heavy metals were far lower than the toxic leaching content specified in the national standard. The plasma melting process adopted had a good solidification effect on the heavy metals. The economic data of this experimental system are shown that the single ton operating cost is ¥1540.82. The results show that plasma melting is an effective method for the disposal of residues from hazardous waste incineration.
