Abstract
This paper undertakes theoretical analysis and numerical simulation investigation on the axial force of the V-shaped clamp in order to improve its sealing effectiveness. First, the key affecting parameters of axial force, such as bolt preload and V-shaped contour angle, were determined using force analysis. The influence law of axial force was then discovered using numerical simulation. The research findings demonstrate that the bigger the bolt preload, the greater the axial force, but the greater the axial force fluctuation; the smaller the V-shaped contour angle, the greater and more uniform the axial force. V-shaped clamps with reasonable size designs and assembly processes can effectively boost their axial force.
