When an experimental analysis on the shearing phenomenon, including large strain and stress which arise concentrated in a narrow region, is conducted using the conventional grid method, there are problems such as difficulty in obtaining accurate results due to grid lines subjected to large deformation, or in a worst case, impossibility in reading the coordinate values of grid pattern intersections, leading to a total failure of the analysis itself. Therefore, in order to solve such problems, the authors propose the remeshing visioplasticity method. This method has proved that an experimental analysis of the entire stress and strain in a shearing area, which has not been successful so far either theoretically or experimentally, can be possible. The results show, for example, that just before cracks are formed in a shearing deformation area, contour lines of a large increment of maximum shearing strain appear parallel to the line connecting respective cutting edges of a punch and a die, and also that the hydrostatic pressure values in its vicinity decrease (approaching a tensile level).
