Abstract
A new expression for the complex amplitude distribution of an off-axis point source is derived based on 'quasi-Fresnel approximation', which is more accurate than that by common Fresnel approximation. The possibilities of making astigmatic optical element holographically are discussed, and a topic holographic lens is recorded and imaging beams are measured, which are closed to the theoretical values. Using the new expression it is easy to explain the on-axis astigmatism in holographic imaging.
