Abstract
We investigate the optical implementation of fuzzy logic operations. After a brief introduction of the aspects of fuzzy logic operations and fuzzy set theory, we discuss the optical implementations of fuzzy logic operation, fuzzy set reasoning, and fuzzy associative memory using various linear and nonlinear optical techniques. We also propose and discuss a fuzzy neural network model for optical pattern recognition. Experimental results achieved in our laboratory are presented and discussed.
