Abstract

Glasses containing lutetium fluoride have been prepare in the system BaF₂ - SrF₂ - ZnF₂ - LuF₃ - InF₃. The composition of the phases crystallizing out of these glasses suggests octahedral pre-arrangement comprising (LuF₆) and [Sr(Ba)F₂] structural fragments.
