Abstract
Slate is a natural stone, which has the characteristic that shows a well-developed defoliation plane, allowing to easily splitting it in plates parallel to that plane. The success of this tone as a roof building material is based on two factors: on one hand, the slat is resistant to frost, to thermal changes, acids, etc, which make it an impervious coverage for any kind of building. On the other hand its unquestionable aesthetic value which has been appreciated by architectures for centuries.
