Abstract
Knock in spark ignition (SI) engines is an undesirable mode of combustion, producing sharp pressure pulses associated with vibration of the engine block. This phenomenon limits performance, durability and fuel economy of SI engines. In this paper the author proposes a new knock detection method called WBKD (Wavelet Based Knock Detection) which is based on joint time-frequency analysis of pressure signal.
