Abstract
With hole-patterned electrodes separated from liquid crystal layers it becomes possible to fabricate liquid crystal lens of high quality and large size. The properties of the lens of this kind of electrode structure are discussed. The modifications to the original structure to realize lenses of improved quality, that are polarization-independent and having focus movable in focal plane are also discussed.
