Abstract
In this paper, a high birefringence loop mirror sensing head was introduced, and its temperature, strain sensing properties with panda-type HBFLM were analyzed and researched in experiment. Experimental results showed that both the temperature and strain sensors have high sensitivity, linearity. Its temperature sensitivity reached 1.41 nm/°C, with the sensitivity linearity was up to 0.99968; Its strain sensitivity was 0.02362 nm /με, when the linearity between strain and wavelength shifts was above 0.99912. This panda HBFLM temperature sensor can be widely used in some industries requiring high sensitivity, miniaturization of structure, and stability, such as high voltage cables, oil temperature measurement, and large monitoring structure fields such as detecting important buildings, bridges, dams.
