Abstract
This paper is meant to be an illustration of some specific applications of the moire technique that are used almost daily in the Laboratory for Strength of Materials and Welding Technology of the State University of Gent to visualize the elasto-plastic displacement field in metal specimens and structures. The emphasis is mainly laid on the feasibility aspects; interpretation of the results are beyond the scope of this article. More specific informaion is available on request.
