Abstract

A motion model is developed to determine the velocity and orientation of motion in video sequences. It is able to classify the motion into eight velocity classes, and for each velocity class it is further classified into three orientations of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal motions. The motion model was tested with real-life video sequences and the results were verified by informal subjective evaluations.
