Abstract
Glint is the strong noise of mid-infrared detectors in the marine targets detection, so it’s very important to understand the problem caused by glint and estimate when the use of infrared detectors is limited. In this study, an experimental observation system is built to collect marine target images by mid-infrared detectors. According to theoretical analysis, a time model is established to reasonably predict when mid-infrared detectors are unavailable based on the variation rule between radiation brightness of the sea surface background or target and the solar zenith angle, which is in good agreement with experimental observation results. In addition, the polarization filter technology and laser imaging technology and their applications in the problem of marine target detection covered in glint are summarized.
