In the present paper a procedure is suggested to inversely determine the elastic foundation constants of delaminated vibrating beams using wavelet packets and artificial neural network (ANN) identification. The modal displacement responses of the beam with and without foundation are used to calculate energy variation vectors with the aid of wavelet package. The ANN model is trained to establish the mapping relationship between modal response and elastic foundation parameters. The components of energy variation vectors are used as the inputs for the ANN model. The outputs of the ANN are constants of elastic foundation. The Euler-Bernoulli beam model is used to calculate the displacement responses of the vibrating beam resting on elastic foundation. The calculations are carried out taking into account the beam damage in the form of delamination.
