(sigma) -conjugated polymers represent a new group of charge-transporting molecular materials. The charge carrier transport is influenced by two factors: delocalized movement inside conjugated domains and intra- and interchain hopping. Polarons play an important role. Electrostatic interactions of polar additives or attached polar side groups with polarons influence the polaron binding energy and the charge hopping.
