Profile Summary

I am a research scientist incorporating cutting-edge integrated photonic technologies into next-generation optical spacecraft instrumentation for reduced payload size, cheaper spacecraft, more robust instruments, and entirely new sensing paradigms unattainable with traditional optical design. My interests include:

- system-level design of integrated photonic chips
- hybrid systems combining the best of bulk-, fiber-, and integrated photonic-based components
- development of new space-grade optical instruments such as lidars and spectrometers
- application of optical systems to new areas in space-based communications, remote sensing, and in situ exploration of other planets
