Holograms are rich in high frequency components with less correlation between pixels and therefore compression of holograms is a challenging area. Computer Generated Holograms (CGH) is generated by computing interference patterns represented in complex numbers with the help of computers. Currently for the representation of these complex numbers in CGH, phase-only holograms are widely used. It is an approximation of original hologram, but it suffers from noise. The proposed work deals with representation of values in complex domain into real domain based on quadrant mapping techniques. Compressed hologram representation using the proposed method provides significant increase in quality for reconstruction compared to phase-only hologram.
