P Susthitha Menon is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She received her BEng degree from UKM in 1999. As an Intel scholar, she worked at Intel Malaysia as a Product Engineer for mobile modules systems from 1999 to 2002; during which she had a short tenure as a product transfer trainee engineer in 1999 at Intel's SMTD, Oregon, USA. She then received her MSc and PhD (Distinction) degrees in 2005 and 2008 respectively from UKM, for the development of Si- and InGaAs-based interdigitated p-i-n photodiodes. At IMEN, she is specializing in the field of plasmonics, optoelectronics, nanophotonics, and robust engineering optimization. Dr Menon is a Member of SPIE since 2009 and a Senior Member of IEEE. She is a member of IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) Board of Governers (BoG), the Vice Chair of the IEEE EDS R10 SRC committee and is the Past Chair of the IEEE EDS Malaysia Chapter 2017-2018 which during her tenure as Chair, won the IEEE EDS R10 Best Chapter Award in 2018 as well as the IEEE Malaysia Section’s Best Chapter Award in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Dr Menon’s research areas are in Optoelectronic Devices (photodiodes, VCSEL, Laser), Nanophotonics (Optical-based biosensors), Surface Plasmonic Effects, Numerical Modeling using Silvaco/Lumerical/SCAPS software, Statistical Modeling using Factorial Design and Taguchi Method. The total Research Grant amount that she has obtained is USD$282000 with 18 projects as Main Principal Investigator (PI) from 2010 till 2021, obtained from UKM, Ministry of Education Malaysia and International AISTDF grant from the Indian government. She has supervised 7 BEng, 8 MSc and 19 PhD students to completion (2009-2020). Dr Menon has authored/co-authored 5 book chapters and 239 indexed international journal and proceedings in the field of optoelectronics and photonics technology.
